How to cook a hearty German potato casserole: a dish for dinner

The peculiarity of the traditional German casserole is that the potatoes are cut into small cubes. Because of this, the vegetable cooks quite quickly and has a very delicate taste. A great addition is the sauce, which is made from just four ingredients.

Ingredients:

- potatoes – 800 g
- bacon or ham – 250 g
- blue onion – 200 g
- green onions – 50 g
- hard cheese – 150 g
- cream – 300 g
- cream cheese – 100 g
- salt, smoked paprika

1. Dice the potatoes, and boil them for 10 minutes in salted water first, as they may not bake. Drain and put them in a baking dish.

2. Next, add a layer of finely chopped blue onions, then diced bacon (or ham), then a layer of green onions, and sprinkle grated cheese on top (you can use more, it makes the dish even tastier).

3. For the filling, take cream, cream cheese, salt, and smoked paprika, mix everything until smooth, and pour over the casserole

4. Put in the oven at 220 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Serve hot.
