Triple sec, or Cointreau, is an alcoholic citrus cocktail that will be a real life saver in hot summer weather if served on the rocks. And it is made on the basis of citrus peels, not the juice itself.
The idea for the Triple Sec or Cointreau citrus cocktail was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Natalia Tsukatnata. It is very important to strain the infusion well so that there are no extra grains of peel.
Ingredients:
- orange (zest) - 2 pcs.
- lime (zest) - 1 pc
- grapefruit (zest) - 1 pc
- sugar - 120 g
- vodka - 0.5
Method of preparation:
1. Grate the zest of oranges, lime, and grapefruit.
2. Pour vodka over everything and leave it in a dark place for at least 8 hours (preferably overnight).
3. Strain the infusion first through a sieve, then through cheesecloth or a paper coffee filter.
4. Add sugar to the resulting liquid.
5. Mix/shake thoroughly until the sugar dissolves. You can strain it a few more times. It will not be clear, as it needs to be strain and filtered several times.
6. Put in a dark place for another 8-10 hours (ideally in the refrigerator for a day).
