Universal dough for baked pies: what to cook on

If you're looking for a pie dough that can be filled with any kind of filling, you should use the following option. The texture is very soft and elastic, so you can make any convenient shape. Also, after baking, the products have a very nice browned color and crispy crust. This is because the dough is made with milk.

The idea of making universal pie dough was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Emiliia Yevtushenko (emiliya.yevtushenko).

Ingredients:

  • dry yeast – 5 g (or 15 grams of fresh)
  • sugar – 2 tbsp
  • salt – 2 tsp
  • milk – 250 ml
  • eggs – 2 pcs
  • butter at room temperature – 45 g
  • flour – 550 g
  • cabbage for the filling

Method of preparation:

1. Make a dough starter (to make sure the yeast is good). You can do it without it.

2. Add 5 g of dry yeast (1 teaspoon) + 2 tbsp of sugar + a glass of flour to 250 ml of warm milk.

3. Stir, cover with a towel, and leave for 30 minutes in a warm place.

4. If after this time the yeast starts working, then everything is fine and you can continue.

5. Separately, in a bowl, mix 2 eggs, 2 tsp of salt, pour into the dough, and add 550 g of flour and 45 g of butter at room temperature.

6. Leave the dough to rest in a warm place for 1-1.30 hours.

7. Form the patties and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

8. Brush with egg and bake in the oven at 180 degrees until golden brown.
