Hard cheese is an ideal ingredient for sandwiches or various casseroles. And instead of buying it in the store, make it at home. All you need are a few simple ingredients.

The idea of making homemade hard cheese was published on the page of food blogger Victoria (viktoriiapetrenko76) on Instagram. The cheese is perfectly sliced and does not crumble.

Ingredients:

  • cottage cheese - 1 kg
  • milk - 1 liter
  • eggs - 1 pc.
  • salt - 1 tsp.
  • soda - 1 tsp.
  • butter - 100 g (optional)

Method of preparation:

1. Pour milk into a saucepan.

2. Add cottage cheese.

3. Cook over medium heat. The cottage cheese should melt and stick together into lumps.

4. Pour it into a colander and separate it from the whey.

5. Then transfer to a saucepan.

6. Add salt, nutmeg and one egg.

7. Stir thoroughly and start melting the cheese. Do this for a few minutes and then add baking soda.

8. After contact with the baking soda, the weight immediately increases. This will make the cheese porous.

9. Put it in any convenient container and tamp it down a little: the mass has already cooled down completely and is ready to eat.
