To make the pies really tasty and airy, chefs advise adding milk and butter to the dough, as these two ingredients will make the dough airy, fluffy, and fragrant.

Chef Serhiy Dzhurenko shared a recipe for pie dough on his website, which will help you make airy and delicious pies.

Ingredients:

  • Sauerkraut - 0.5 kg
  • Onion - 1 pc.
  • Oil - 2 tbsp.
  • Flour - 2 cups
  • Dry "quick" yeast - 5 g
  • Butter or oil - 1 tbsp.
  • Low-fat milk or water - 150 ml
  • Egg - 1 pc.
  • Salt, black pepper - to taste
  • Bay leaf - 1-2 pcs.
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Spices - a pinch

The method of preparation:

Dough for cabbage pies

1. Sift the flour, add salt, sugar, dry yeast, and mix everything.

2. Melt the butter, add to the warm milk, mix and pour into the flour and knead the dough.

3. Be sure to transfer the dough to a bowl, cover with a towel and let stand for 30-45 minutes.

4. After the time has elapsed, cut the dough into equal pieces, roll them out, put the filling inside each one, and form pies.

5. Cover the mold or baking sheet with parchment, grease it with oil and place the pies, you can grease the top with an egg.

6. Put the pies in the oven for 30 minutes at 180°C.
