The perfect recipe for steamed dumplings: they won't stick together or fall apart during cooking
Dumplings with cherries are considered a classic of Ukrainian folk cuisine, loved by millions of people. But dumplings are not always successful. Sometimes it happens that the filling comes out, and the dumplings themselves fall apart.
Food blogger Yulia Senich shared on Instagram how to make steamed dumplings with cherries. According to her recipe, this dish will always turn out well and never fall apart.
Ingredients for dough for 22 pcs.
- Kefir - 250 ml
- Salt - a pinch
- Soda - 1 tsp
- Flour - 300 g
Ingredients for the filling for 22 pcs.
- Cherries - 100 g
- Strawberries - 100 g
- Sugar - to taste
- Starch - 1 tbsp.
Additional ingredients
- Butter for greasing
Method of preparation
1. Add salt and baking soda to the slightly warm kefir. Stir well.
2. Sift the flour into the kefir and knead a soft, slightly sticky dough for 2-3 minutes.
3. Cover with cling film and leave for 15 minutes.
4. Rinse the berries from dirt, remove the bone from the cherries and tear off the "asses". Cut the strawberries into small pieces.
5. Mix sugar and starch separately.
6. Knead the dough and roll it into a medium-thick layer. No need to make the dough thin.
7. Cut out circles of medium diameter (~6 cm) and put the filling (maximum 2-3 cherries). Sprinkle sugar and starch on top and pinch the edges well.
8. Steam in a way convenient for you for 6 minutes.
9. Brush with butter.
