Seafood pies in a hurry: 3 best recipes
When we hear seafood pie, we immediately imagine pizza. But you can go the other way and make a real, light shrimp pie, a cake with mussels or oysters, as well as other delicious seafood to your liking that will definitely be healthy.
The FoodOboz editorial team has prepared three unusual pie recipes with exotic fillings that will definitely surprise both you and your guests.
1. Oyster pie
Ingredients:
- flour - 250 g
- eggs - 3 pcs.
- butter - 150 g
- cream - 25-30 g
- oysters or mussels - 600 g
- water - 0.5 liters
- dry wine - 50 g
- parsley - optional - 1 bunch
- salt - to taste
Method of preparation:
- Cut the butter, add the sifted flour and water, mix everything well, make a ball of dough, and put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Rinse the oyster shells well, carefully open them and take out the mollusks, put them in water for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, make the sauce: mix the cream with chopped parsley, eggs, and salt and whisk well.
- Roll out the dough well, put it on a baking sheet, and pierce it with a fork to bake it well.
- Put the oysters in and pour the resulting egg cream sauce over them.
- Bake the pie for about 20-35 minutes at 180°C.
2. Shrimp and zucchini pie
Ingredients:
- flour - 250 g
- eggs - 2-3 pcs.
- raw shrimp - 200-300 g
- zucchini - 1 pc.
- butter - 2 tbsp.
- milk - 1 tbsp.
- cheddar cheese - 3 tbsp.
- salt, pepper - to taste
Method of preparation:
- For the dough: mix the flour, butter, salt, and eggs, mash well into crumbs, and refrigerate for 30-40 minutes.
- For the filling: peel the shrimp, make sure to cut the back in the middle, and remove the black intestinal vein.
- Cut the zucchini into strips and fry in vegetable oil until soft. Add flour, stir, and fry for another 1 minute.
- Add the preheated milk to the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce becomes thick.
- Add the shrimp, beaten eggs, and cheese, and season well with salt and pepper.
- Roll out the dough and put the prepared filling on it, bake for about 30 minutes at 190°C.
Serve with salads of your choice or just with fresh vegetables.
3. Tomato and seafood pie
Ingredients for the dough:
- flour - 500 g
- dry yeast - 7 g
- eggs - 2 pcs.
- milk - 175 ml
- butter - 70 g
For the filling:
- flour - 3 tbsp.
- eggs - 3 pcs.
- seafood mixture - 300 g
- tomatoes - 3 pcs.
- pitted olives - 10 pcs.
- vegetable oil - 1.5 tbsp.
- large onions - 2 pcs.
- cream with a fat content of 33% - 200 ml
- sour cream - 200 g
- nutmeg - 10 g
- salt, pepper - to taste
Method of preparation:
- Sift the flour, and add eggs, yeast, milk, salt, and melted butter.
- Knead the dough well until elastic, cover with cling film and put in a warm place for 1.5 hours, the dough should rise.
- For the filling: cut the onion into rings, and fry well in vegetable oil, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Chop the olives and tomatoes and grate the cheese.
- For the filling sauce: whip the cream into a thick foam, and add sour cream, eggs, flour, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
- Roll out the dough and place it on a baking sheet with parchment. Put the onion, seafood mixture, tomatoes, olives and pour the sauce over it.
- Bake at 200°C for 50 minutes until nicely browned, take out the pie, sprinkle with cheese and return to the oven for 1-2 minutes.
Serve with fresh vegetables and soups.
