How to wrap strudel properly so that it does not fall apart: a simple technique
Strudel has no seasons or special dates as it's a dessert for absolutely every occasion. The classic juicy apple filling and elastic, sweet dough are to the taste of many. However, there are many options for forming such pastries, and each differs in appearance and, accordingly, in the complexity of execution.
A simple idea for making an apple strudel was posted on tetya.yulia's Instagram page. In this version, the strudel is rolled into a tube.
Ingredients for the dough:
- flour - 3 cups
- eggs - 1 pc
- water - 1/3 cup
- oil - 1/3 cup
- vanilla sugar - 10 g
Ingredients for the filling:
- apples - 2 kg
- brown sugar - 3-4 tbsp
- lemon juice - 2 tbsp
- cinnamon - optional
- butter and egg yolk for greasing
Method of preparation:
1. Crack an egg, add vanilla sugar and mix.
2. Add oil and water. Mix everything again.
3. Sift flour into a separate bowl.
4. Add the egg mixture.
5. Make elastic dough.
6. Roll in plastic wrap and leave for 30 minutes.
7. Wash, peel and chop the apples.
8. Put in a frying pan to caramelize the fruit.
9. Add brown sugar and lemon juice, sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
10. Caramelize the apples for about 10 minutes.
11. When the dough has rested, divide it into three equal parts. Roll out thinly.
12. Brush with melted butter. Put the filling.
13. Roll the strudel and pinch the edges.
14. Before baking, brush with egg yolk.
15. Bake at 180 degrees for 40 minutes.
16. Sprinkle the finished dish with powdered sugar.
