How to reduce the amount of sugar in any jam by 2-3 times: healthy alternatives
All summer berries and fruits are the basis for making delicious, flavorful jams, preserves, and jams. Jams are made in different ways and with different ingredients that can enhance the flavor and brighten any jam. But it's worth remembering that sugar is a necessary part of jam making, but it should not be overused.
Nutritionist Tetiana Lakusta shared on Instagram how to reduce the amount of sugar in any jam and compotes by 2-3 times using simple products.
1. Peptin and citric acid
Using these two ingredients will reduce the use of sugar in jams by half.
When using peptin, you can use 200-300 g of sugar per 1 kg of fruit instead of 1:1.
2. Agar-agar
When using arg-arg, add 500 g of sugar to the jam per 1 kg of fruit instead of 1:1.
3. How to replace compotes
Prepare berry puree. You just need to freeze it and, if necessary, prepare healthy drinks by simply adding the puree to the water.
Pureed berries can be used to make delicious and simple drinks by adding herbs or citrus.
