Scientists have investigated the consequences of excessive egg consumption

Many people, especially those who play sports, consider eggs to be a safe alternative to processed meat protein. However, scientists have a different opinion and warn that excessive consumption of this product can lead to cardiovascular disease and even death.

This was reported by Fourals. The article notes that health risks are associated with egg yolk, which has a very high cholesterol content.

The publication refers to a study conducted by experts from the American Northwestern University. It showed that the consequences of excessive egg consumption can be very destructive for the human body.

The researchers studied in detail the health data of more than 29 thousand Americans, whose average age was 51.6 years. The choice was made in favor of those who had no previous history of cardiovascular disease and reported all their bad habits, such as smoking or drinking alcohol.

They were followed for 17.5 years, analyzing their eating habits in detail.

During these almost two decades, 5400 study participants experienced cardiovascular disease and 6132 of them died of natural causes.

In their work, scientists have pointed out the harmful effects of excessive consumption of eggs, especially yolks. Thus, eating three eggs a week can lead to vascular occlusion, atherosclerosis, and stroke

It is especially dangerous to consume large quantities of eggs without physical activity in addition to smoking and eating foods saturated with fat. This negatively affects the heart muscle.

According to experts, taking 300 mg of cholesterol per day increases low-density lipoprotein levels by 0.15 mmol/L, which increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease by 3.2% and premature death by 4.2%.

Each half of an egg eaten daily increases the risk of cardiovascular disease by 1.1% and premature death by 1.93%.
