Which form of lard is most useful: an expert's answer
One of the healthiest and simplest foods is lard, which is high in healthy fats. Experts advise eating it raw, or with mustard and horseradish. It is often used to make sandwiches, spread with garlic on bread, and baked with potatoes.
Nutritionist Oksana Skitalinska explained on her Instagram page whether and how much lard can be eaten every day.
The benefits of lard
1. Lard contains up to 45% oleic acid (64% in olive oil), which is not oxidized, and since it is part of cell membranes, the body stays healthy longer, ages, and wears out more slowly.
2. Lard can withstand heating without the formation of harmful compounds.
3. Promotes bile formation, useful in case of gallbladder hypotension.
4. It has a choleretic effect, prevents stagnation in the gallbladder.
"In the morning, all people's bile is full of cholesterol and has lithogenic properties, so it's good to eat a piece of bacon in the morning," the nutritionist advises.
5. Removal of radionuclides.
6. Lard, like olive oil, is low in "inflammatory" linoleic acid, which is abundant in vegetable oils that oxidize quickly (sunflower, corn, etc.).
7. Lard contains arachidonic acid, which is a component of cell membranes and is essential for the functioning of heart muscle enzymes.
How much can you eat in a day
"1/3-1/2 of a matchbox, raw and frozen," the expert summarized.
