What kind of water and how much to drink during cold weather: nutritionist gives advice

The nutritionist explained why you should drink warm water in the fall

During the cold season, you should add plain warm water to your diet. It is also recommended to drink more tea and herbal decoctions.

Nutritionist Natalia Dubovyk told OBOZREVATEL about this in an exclusive commentary. According to her, warm drinking is a prevention of stomach diseases.

"It's getting cold outside, and to avoid stomach problems, you need to drink warm water instead of cold," she said.

As the nutritionist explained, the daily water intake is calculated using a simple formula: 30 milliliters for every kilogram of a person's weight. "It turns out to be 1.5 liters or more."

"If you are suffering from any viral disease, your water intake should be increased by at least 500 milliliters so that decay products are better excreted from the body," she added.

Teas and herbal decoctions are recommended to be drunk in the cold season.

The nutritionist also recommended drinking more warm teas and herbal decoctions in the fall and winter. At the same time, she emphasized that the volume of these drinks is not included in the daily water requirement. "At the same time, the daily water intake does not decrease, meaning that you need to drink water plus tea or decoctions," she clarified.

The information has been verified by Dr. Viktor Lytvynenko.
