Vertuta is a dish of Moldovan cuisine based on unleavened puff pastry with a filling, and berries, fruits, as well as meat, cheese, and greens can be used for the filling. It is worth noting that the dish is easier to prepare than pies and casseroles.

A simple quickie vertuta with pumpkin

Chef Hector Jimens-Bravo shared a recipe for a spinach, cheese, and onion vertuta on Instagram.

Ingredients:

Dough:

  • flour - 300 g
  • warm milk - 175 ml

  • salt - 1 tsp.
  • sunflower oil - 1 tbsp.

The filling:

  • spinach - 300 g

  • green onions - 300 g
  • greens - 50 g
  • cheese - 100 g

  • salt - to taste

Method of preparation:

1. Dough: mix flour and milk, add a little oil and knead the dough. Put the dough into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise.

2. Filling: wash the greens and chop them. Add cottage cheese, sour cream, salt and mix well.

3. Roll out the dough, it should be very thin. Put the filling and wrap it up. Brush the top with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
