Arepas – Venezuelan corn dough pastry
Arepas is a versatile cornmeal pastry that is a traditional dish in Venezuela and Colombia. In these countries, it is eaten almost every day. You can combine a wide variety of fillings, both sweet and savory, depending on your taste preferences.

Ingredients:
- corn flour – 300 g
- water
- mayonnaise/oil –1 tbsp.
- salt to taste
- grated cheese – 70 g
Cornmeal pastries
Method of preparation:
1. Pour corn flour into a bowl, add about 500 ml of water.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1/2 tablespoon of butter or margarine, grated cheese.
3. Mix with your hands until smooth.

4. Divide the finished mixture into pieces, moisten your hands with warm water to prevent it from sticking, and shape into a round shape.
5. Fry in a non-stick frying pan without adding oil. Turn every 2-3 minutes (4-6 times).
