Ukrainian borscht in a new way: what will make the dish even tastier
Red borscht is a traditional and favorite Ukrainian dish, which is cooked with meat, vegetables, frying, less often - add beans or mushrooms.
Foodblogger Olena with the nickname cooking__by__elena on her Instagram page published a recipe for borscht, which she advises to supplement with meatballs - the dish will be very hearty and tasty.
Ingredients:
- potatoes - 3 pcs.
- cabbage - 1/2 pcs.
- carrots - 1 pcs.
- onion - 1 pc.
- beet - 2 pcs.
- chicken fillet - 2 pcs.
- garlic - 2 cloves
- tomato paste - 2 tbsp. l.
- sugar - 1 tbsp.
- vegetable oil
- pea pepper
- herbs
- salt, paprika, seasoning for minced meat
Method of preparation:
1. chop onion, grate beets and carrots. First fry onions and carrots, then add beets. Fry over low heat until soft.
2. Next, you need to add tomato paste diluted with water (200 ml of water), peas (4-5 pcs.) and sugar. Stew on low heat under a lid for 10 minutes.
3. At the same time, pour water into the pot and bring to a boil.
4. Dice the potatoes and add them to the pot when the water boils.
5. Meanwhile, whisk the fillets in a blender, mix them with the spices and salt. Form meatballs.
6. Shred the cabbage and add to the pot when the potatoes are half-cooked. Add the meatballs as well.
7. When the meatballs are ready, add the fried meat, garlic and herbs. Bring the borscht to a boil.
