Turkish-style eggs: how to prepare a familiar dish in a new way
In Ukraine, eggs are a truly irreplaceable product. They are boiled, fried in various ways and even eaten raw. But in Turkey, this product is also eaten in its own way. A boiled poached egg is placed on a yogurt pillow with pepper oil. It turns out to be a full-fledged restaurant dish, very nutritious and tasty.
The idea of cooking Turkish-style eggs with yogurt was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Yulia (stucnean.buns).
Ingredients:
- chicken eggs - 2 pcs.
- Greek yogurt - 150 g
- garlic - 1 clove
- fresh mint - 2 sprigs
- olive oil - 2 tbsp
- sweet ground paprika - 0.5 tsp.
- hot ground chili - 1 pinch
- vinegar 9% - 1 tbsp
- bread - 4-6 slices
- salt - to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan, add salt and vinegar. Use a spoon to make a hole in the water and carefully pour in the egg. Cook over low heat for 2-2.5 minutes.
2. Prepare pepper oil: pour oil into a saucepan, heat it to 90 degrees, add sweet ground paprika and hot paprika, stir and leave to stand for 5-7 minutes.
3. Then carefully remove with a slotted spoon and place the egg on a paper towel. Boil the second egg in the same way or, if the dish is wider, boil 2 eggs at once.
4. Pour Greek yogurt into a suitable dish, add chopped garlic and chopped mint.
5. Put the poached eggs on top, sprinkle with sweet paprika and chopped mint.
6. Serve with a crispy baguette for breakfast.
