The legend of Shakotis
According to legend, a young chef named Jonas made a pie for Queen Barbara. This culinary masterpiece was created in a very strange way. The young man accidentally spilled the delicate dough on a stick and began to twirl it over the fire. The lady liked the dessert very much, and she gave the young man a piece of jewelry, which he gave to his beloved. Therefore, Shakotis is prepared not only for New Year's holidays but also for weddings. In Lithuania, it is believed that the taller the Shakotis, the more love the newlyweds have.
