To keep canned tomatoes well for the winter, it is not necessary to sterilize the jars. The most important thing in preparing such a preparation is to observe the proportions of the marinade. It will be very tasty if you put carrot tops in the jars.

The idea of cooking canned tomatoes with carrot tops without sterilization was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Yulia with the nickname yulka cybulka. To prevent the fruit from cracking, you need to make punctures with a toothpick.

Method of cooking tomatoes with carrots:

1. Wash 1.5 or 3 liter jars.

2. Wash the tops of the carrots and put them in the jars: 2-3 leaves per 1.5 liter jar and 3-4 leaves per 3 liter jar.

3. Wash the tomatoes (they should be firm and not overripe).

4. Put them in jars. To make sure that the tomatoes do not crack, you can make punctures near the stem.

5. Pour boiling water over the jars, cover with lids, and leave until the jars cool to a comfortable temperature for your hands.

6. Drain the water from the jars into a saucepan and use it to make the marinade.

7. For 5 liters of water (if you have less, divide in proportion to the volume):

  • 20 tablespoons of sugar
  • 5 tablespoons of salt
  • 350 grams of 9% vinegar

8. Bring the marinade to a boil and pour into jars.

9. Close the lids.

10. Turn the jars upside down and cover with a blanket.

11.Wait until completely cool and put in a cold place.
