Tastier than barbecue: a hearty Georgian meat and vegetable dish called Ojakhuri for dinner
Ojakhuri is a Georgian national dish based on fried meat and potatoes. It is made from different types of meat (pork, beef, and rarely chicken), potatoes, and spices.
The cook shared a recipe on Instagram for a delicious Georgian meat dish with vegetables and hot peppers.
Ingredients:
- Meat (pork/beef/chicken) - 0.5 kg
- Potatoes - 1 kg
- Onions (white) - 2 pcs.
- Tomatoes - 2-3 pcs.
- Hot pepper - 1 pc.
- Butter
- Salt
- Garlic - 2-3 cloves.
- Paprika - 1 tsp.
- Suneli hops - 1-2 tsp.
- Onion (blue) - 1 pc.
- Herbs (cilantro/parsley/dill)
Method of preparation:
1. Pour the oil into a frying pan and heat it, then put the potatoes cut into "slices" and start frying. When the potatoes are golden brown, take them out and place them on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
2. Dice the meat and fry until golden brown.
3. Cut the onion into half rings and add to the meat, fry for a few minutes, and then reduce the heat to low. Cut the tomatoes into slices and place them on top of the meat, then add the cooked potatoes. Slice the garlic and pepper and add to the dish. Finally, add salt, paprika, suneli hops and mix well.
4. Turn off the heat and garnish with blue onion rings and herbs!
