Sweet rhubarb syrup instead of a cocktail: how to make an interesting drink

Rhubarb is a very versatile plant that can be actively used for culinary purposes. A variety of pies or jams are made from this product. Rhubarb is also ideal for making a delicious syrup. This drink can be consumed on its own as a cocktail or added to various pastries for a better taste. You just need a few simple ingredients.

Food blogger Iryna Bondaruk (ira.bondaruk) shared how to make rhubarb syrup on her Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • rhubarb - 1.5 kg
  • water - 1.5 liters
  • sugar - 900 g
  • lemon - 1 piece

Method of preparation:

1. Wash the rhubarb and cut into pieces, cover with water, and cook for 5-10 minutes.

2. Strain through a colander lined with cheesecloth. (Leave for 2 hours to drain all the liquid).

3. Add sugar and lemon juice to the syrup. Bring everything to a boil and cook for 5 minutes.

4. Pour boiling water over the clean bottles.

5. Pour in the hot syrup and close the bottles.

6. Store in a dark, cool place for up to 5 months. Store in the refrigerator when opened.
