Blueberry varenyky are a traditional Ukrainian dish that every housewife is familiar with. This is the season for juicy and sweet berries, so hurry up and make them. The dough is best made with kefir. The products can be steamed and will be very fluffy and soft.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • flour - 600 g + 50 g for powdering
  • kefir - 400 ml.
  • baking soda - 1.5 tsp.
  • a pinch of salt

Ingredients for the filling:

  • blueberries - 400-450 g
  • sugar - 150 g
  • starch - 2 tbsp
  • butter for lubrication - 50 g

1. Pour room temperature kefir into a bowl and add salt.

2. Mix flour with baking soda and add to the kefir.

3. Knead elastic dough.

4. Set aside for 15-20 minutes.

5. Pour 2.5 liters of water into a large saucepan, cover with cheesecloth and secure it with a string.

6. Cover and wait for the water to boil.
