Sweet and healthy marshmallows: how to make a dessert at home
Marshmallows are a favorite sweet for many children. But parents don't always allow them to eat this product, because the store-bought version has a lot of preservatives and dyes. Therefore, it is worth using the homemade version and making a dessert from natural ingredients - apples.
The idea of making homemade apple marshmallows was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Olena Holovina (olha.holovina).
Ingredients for 35 pieces:
- apple juice – 150 ml + 150 ml
- gelatin – 30 g
- sugar – 480 g
- citric acid – a pinch
- coloring – optional
- cornstarch – 1.5 tbsp
- Powdered sugar – 1.5 tbsp
Method of preparation:
1. Add gelatin to apple juice (150 ml).
2. Stir and leave for 10 minutes to swell.
3. Add sugar and lemon juice separately to the remaining 150 ml of juice.
4. Stir and put on medium heat.
5. Bring to a boil, boil for a minute, and remove from heat.
6. Heat the gelatin on the stove or in the microwave.
7. Beat it with a mixer at high speed, gradually pouring in the mixture of water and sugar.
8. Beat until thick, add the coloring.
9. Sprinkle the molds with water, cover with cling film, and grease it with oil.
10. Pour the mixture and leave in the refrigerator for several hours.
11. Mix the starch and powdered sugar.
12. Cut the marshmallows and roll each piece in this mass.
