Plum chutney sauce: perfect for meat

Plums are a fruit that is often used to make various sauces for meat. They have a light tart flavor with a mild acidity, so they go well with salty foods. And it is in the spicy chutney sauce that plums are best revealed because this dish contains many fragrant spices. The cooking technology is very simple.

Ingredients:

  • plums - 450 g
  • red onion - 1 pc
  • ginger - a piece (5-6 cm)
  • brown sugar - 90 g
  • balsamic vinegar - 5 tbsp
  • anise - 2-3 pieces
  • cloves - 2-3 pcs
  • cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
  • salt, pepper - to taste

Method of preparation:

1. Wash plums and remove the pits. Cut the fruit into small pieces.

2. Finely chop onion and ginger.

3. Add sugar and vinegar to a saucepan, stir over low heat until the sugar dissolves.

4. Add the plums, onion, ginger and all the spices.

5. Cook over low heat for 30-40 minutes until the consistency of marmalade, stirring from time to time. Season with salt and pepper to taste, put in clean jars while still hot, and close the lid. Chutney can be stored in a cool place for up to 6 months.
