Nutritionist named a product that will help prolong youth

The presence of a certain product in the diet can significantly strengthen the immune system, relieve inflammation, and even slow down the aging process of cells.

Nutritionist Oksana Skytalinska wrote about this on her Facebook page.

When we talk about healthy eating, we often mention two words: "balance" and "variety". Mushrooms are vegetable proteins that are distinguished by their flavor and health benefits. In addition, according to a nutritionist, they have many other benefits.

Mushrooms are good for the immune system

Mushrooms are useful for boosting the immune system, especially for those of us who suffer from various types of allergies.

Mushrooms contain unique substances – micronutrients – that naturally strengthen our immune system by promoting the production of antibodies.

"An interesting experiment was conducted: two groups of people ate the same diet, but people from one group ate an additional cup of boiled champignons. After a week, their immunoglobulin levels increased by 50%, and then remained for another week," the nutritionist said.

Mushrooms have anti-inflammatory properties, so it is advisable to eat mushrooms regularly, at least once a week.

Protect against old age and disease

Mushrooms contain an extremely valuable amino acid called ergothioneine. When we eat mushrooms, this substance is transferred by special proteins to those parts of the body that suffer the most from oxidative stress, protecting them from destruction. These are the lens of the eye and bone marrow.

As the nutritionist noted, scientists even consider ergothioneine a cytoprotector, that is, a substance that protects cells. The mechanism of action of ergothioneine is to protect the DNA of mitochondria, the smallest structures in the cell that produce energy and free radicals and are very sensitive to damage (pollution, prolonged stress, intoxication, etc.). Unlike all antioxidants, ergothioneine can penetrate the mitochondrial membrane.

In addition, mushrooms protect against atherosclerosis, fatty hepatosis (fatty liver), and obesity in general. This is due to the "mushroom sugar" – trehalose. It also helps to lose weight, so mushrooms are an integral part of the diet for those who are losing weight. Trehalose also slows down the aging of the skin, blood vessels, and eye lens.

Antidepressants

Many people consider mushrooms to be very tasty. This is due to psilocybin. Psilocybin stimulates the synthesis of serotonin in the brain, and we know that a balance of serotonin makes life brighter.

Protect against the "smell of old age"

More recently, scientists have discovered a compound that appears in people over 40 and gives a specific body odor characteristic of the elderly. This compound is called nonenal, and no soap or deodorant can easily overpower it. "This is due to changes in the skin's microflora. "So eating mushrooms slows down this process," the nutritionist said.

How to cook mushrooms?

"Boil and stew them. They can be combined with almost all dishes: cereals, vegetables, and eggs. Mushrooms are a vegetable protein that is better absorbed if the mushrooms are chopped as much as possible – so chew well or make a cream soup or mushroom paste. Mushrooms are also extremely low in calories, but contain fiber, so they are well saturated and indispensable for weight loss," the nutritionist said.
