Never microwave food like this: you may ruin both your dinner and the appliance
A microwave is a very handy device that is hard to imagine any kitchen without. Cooking or simply heating food in such a device can save a lot of time. But when using a microwave, you need to follow a few rules so as not to spoil the appliance and the food itself.
The FoodOboz editorial team will tell you what mistakes are often made when heating food in the microwave. The following recommendations will help you do everything right.
Why food is not heated evenly
It's a big mistake to heat a lot of different foods on the same plate. This action will cause one food to be very hot and the other to remain cold. Uneven heating also occurs because you don't turn or stir the contents of the plate periodically: you shouldn't forget about this.
Do not heat liquids in smooth glass containers
To heat liquids, choose dishes with an uneven surface. If it is smooth glass, for example, it will get very hot and there is a risk of burns.
Unsuitable cookware
There are some dishes that cannot be heated in the microwave at all. These are, for example, polystyrene, aluminum and metal plates. Both the dishes and the food can be damaged by the temperature.
Do not leave an empty microwave on for a long time
Make it a habit to turn off the microwave immediately after use. If you leave the appliance on for a long time, there is a risk of fire.
What not to heat in the microwave
Do not microwave the following:
- berries, fruits (frozen)
- hot peppers
- eggs
- food with a lot of oil
