Low-calorie and healthy Jewish hummus: a recipe for a cold appetizer
Chickpeas are the main ingredient and a successful combination in many dishes. One of our favorites and most popular, regardless of the season, is hummus, a perfect cold and healthy snack. It is even easier to prepare than mashed potatoes, and the main advantage is that the consistency can be changed to suit your taste preferences: make hummus in the form of a liquid sauce or as a spread.
The recipe for the healthy hummus was shared by Ukrainian chef Serhii Pokanevych. It was posted on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- chickpeas – 700 g
- sesame paste – 1 tbsp
- garlic – 3 cloves
- olive oil – 100 ml
- salt – 2 pinches
- cumin – 1 pinch
- hot chili pepper
Method of preparation:
1. Cover the chickpeas with water for 12 hours, then boil for about 1 hour. Drain the water.
2. Beat the boiled chickpeas with a blender.
3. Add sesame paste, garlic and olive oil. Add spices. Beat with a blender.
4. If the hummus is too thick, you can add a little water where the chickpeas were cooked. Blend again.
This hummus is best served as a spread on toast or pita bread.
