To make a classic Napoleon, you need to prepare puff pastry, roll it out into thin cakes, and evenly grease the bases with cream. All this takes a lot of time. Therefore, you can use a much simpler technology and prepare the popular dessert in a bowl.

The idea of making a lazy Napoleon in a bowl in 20 minutes is published on the Instagram page of food blogger zhuravlina_cooking. This dessert is very convenient to serve, because it does not need to be cut and placed in a bowl.

Ingredients for (6-7 bowls):

  • plain puff pastry - 500 g
  • milk - 500 ml
  • vanilla sugar - 10 g
  • corn starch - 50 g (not more)
  • eggs - 2 pcs
  • sugar - 130 g
  • butter - 150-180 g
  • a pinch of salt

Method of preparation:

1. Put the puff pastry on parchment and bake for 15-20 minutes in a preheated oven at 180-190 degrees. Grind the finished dough into crumbs with your hands.

2. For the custard, add sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt to the eggs and beat with a mixer.

3. Then add cornstarch and beat again with a mixer.

4. Pour the milk into a saucepan (but not enameled because it will burn with the cream), put it on the fire and bring it to the beginning of evaporation (not boiling - the eggs will curdle immediately).

5. Pour the egg mixture into the milk and stir constantly with a whisk over medium heat until the cream is curdled.

6. When the cream has curdled and started to bubble, turn on a small fire and stir vigorously with a whisk for 30 seconds to open the starch well.

7. Add butter to the cream and stir well again until the butter is combined with the other ingredients. Transfer the cream to a container of any kind, cover with cling film to prevent it from getting airborne, and cool to room temperature.

8. Layer the custard and dough. You can also add canned cherries if desired and refrigerate for several hours.
