Stuffed cabbage is one of the most popular dishes in Ukraine. They are prepared with a variety of fillings and experimented with types of cabbage. The cabbage rolls are served with sour cream and the gravy in which they were cooked. However, not all housewives like to cook cabbage rolls.

The fact is that sometimes it can be quite difficult to wrap the filling in a cabbage leaf. And the density of the cabbage rolls directly affects their taste and appearance. Recently, on Instagram, chef Valentyna Kush shared her own recipe for cabbage rolls and an interesting method of wrapping them. Following this recipe and method, cabbage rolls will always turn out delicious and beautiful.

Ingredients

  • Cabbage - 1 pc
  • Minced meat - 600 gr
  • Rice - 200 gr
  • Onions - 1 pc
  • Carrots - 1 pc
  • Garlic - 5 cloves for the filling and the same amount for the sauce
  • Smoked paprika
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Tomatoes in their own juice - 400 g

Method of preparation

1. Cut the head of cabbage and cook it in a large saucepan.

2. During this process, carefully remove the cabbage leaf by leaf and take it out of the boiling water.

3. After removing one layer of cabbage, cook it for another 2-3 minutes, and then remove the next layer.

4. Put the small leaves left over from the cabbage on the bottom of the pan.

5. Rinse the rice in cold water 5-6 times. Add the minced meat, garlic, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. You can also add herbs.

6. Dice the onion and grate the carrots. Fry together in a frying pan and let cool.

7. Add the fried meat to the minced meat and knead until smooth.

8. Divide the cabbage leaf into two parts and cut out the thick center.

9. Wrap the minced meat in the sheet and form our triangles the way you roll up a paper bag.

10. Put the cabbage rolls in the pan tightly together.

11. Pour the mixture of tomatoes and water so that the cabbage rolls are covered.

12. Add salt, pepper, garlic and your favorite spices.

13. Cook over medium heat after boiling for 1.5 hours. Cover and let stand for another 30 minutes.
