How to pickle mackerel deliciously at home: can be eaten after 24 hours

Pickled mackerel is a great addition to mashed potatoes or any porridge. It also goes well with a fresh salad. The fish has a lot of flesh and few bones. And you can easily cook such a product at home.

The idea of cooking homemade spicy pickled mackerel was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Victoria (viktoriiapetrenko76). It is very important to add enough spices to make the taste spicy and the fish marinated well.

Ingredients:

  • mackerel - 2 pcs.
  • onions - 2-3 pieces (the more, the better)

Ingredients for the marinade:

  • water - 1 liter
  • salt - 3 tbsp
  • sugar - 2 tbsp
  • oil - 3 tbsp
  • black peppercorns - 10 pcs.
  • cloves - 5 pcs.
  • bay leaves - 3 pcs.
  • allspice - 5 pcs.
  • coriander peas - 0.5 tsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Cut the mackerel into 2-2.5 cm pieces.

2. Cut the onion into half rings.

3. Bring the water for the marinade to a boil.

4. Add all the ingredients, boil for 5 minutes, and let the marinade cool.

5. Put the onions and fish in rows and pour the cooled marinade over.

6. Leave in the refrigerator for a day.
