Salted caramel is a real find in any kitchen. It can be used as a pancake sauce or added to coffee and ice cream. Caramel can be poured over toast and pastries, used as a layer for cakes, or used as a filling for desserts such as brownies, muffins, or macaroons.
The FoodOboz editorial team shares with you a recipe for salted caramel. If you want a vegan version, use vegetable milk instead of cream: you can find the recipe here.
- sugar - 200 g
- butter - 100 g
- cream 33% - 125 ml
- sea salt - 1 tsp.
- Pour the sugar into a saucepan with a thick bottom. Put on medium heat. When the sugar starts to melt, start stirring. Stir constantly, the sugar should not burn.
- When the sugar turns into a syrup of a beautiful amber color, add the butter, cut into pieces. Stir until the butter is completely dissolved.
- When the mixture becomes homogeneous, pour in the cream and cook for 5 minutes over low heat, stirring constantly.
- Add half of the salt, stir and taste – if there is not enough salt, you can add more.
- Remove from the stove, cool and pour into a jar.
