How to make dill pesto sauce: a Ukrainian version of an Italian dish
It is in summer that there is a wide variety of healthy greens. Therefore, it should be actively added to your diet and even cooked as independent dishes. One of them is the Italian basil pesto sauce. But if you have fragrant homegrown dill, you can use it too.
The idea of making homemade pesto sauce from dill or basil was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Nataliia Balishchuk (natalie.belichuk).
Ingredients:
- dill or still basil – 250 g
- oil – 100 g (olive or sunflower)
- garlic – 2 cloves
- nuts (pine, walnuts, preferably roasted) – 1 tbsp
- salt
- lemon juice – 1 tbsp
- Parmesan or grana padano – 2 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Beat the ingredients in a blender until smooth. The proportions can be adjusted to your liking.
2. Take only the leaves from the basil, and chop the dill before whipping.
3. The classic recipe calls for pine nuts, but you can choose a more affordable option.
4. If you don't like garlic, you can leave it out.
5. However, you can add dried or sun-dried tomatoes.
