How to make delicious meatless cutlets: they will be healthy and low-fat

Delicious meatballs don't have to contain meat at all. Use lentils to make them lean and juicy. They hold their shape perfectly when chopped and do not burn in the pan.

The idea of making meatless meatballs was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Kateryna Brailo (ketiv_). You will need to add a few more vegetables.

Ingredients:

  • red lentils – 200 g
  • vegetables
  • onion – 1 pc (small)
  • carrots – 1 pc (medium)
  • zucchini – 1/2
  • bell pepper – 1 pc.
  • spices: paprika, suneli hops, Italian herbs
  • optional greens
  • olive oil

Method of preparation:

1. Rinse the lentils and soak them in warm water (300 ml) overnight or in boiling water for 30 minutes to an hour.

2. Drain the water.

3. Beat with a blender until smooth. No need to cook it.

4. Finely chop the onion and bell pepper.

5. Grate carrots and zucchini (fine or regular).

6. Fry the vegetables in olive oil until golden brown (half cooked).

7. Add to the lentils + spices and mix well.

8. Form patties with your hands.

9. Fry in a frying pan with a little olive oil over low heat, on both sides under the lid (about 5-7 minutes on each side).

10. Check for readiness.
