How to make a hearty cabbage pie: a delicious homemade dish for lunch

A cabbage pie is a very simple and satisfying dish that requires a simple pie dough. It doesn't require long kneading, so you'll be able to do it very quickly. The vegetable filling is not only budget-friendly, but also very juicy.

The idea of making a hearty cabbage pie for lunch was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Anna with the nickname fil.anna. It takes a maximum of an hour to bake.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • cabbage - 1/4 pc.
  • onion - 1 pc.
  • carrot - 1 pc.
  • tomato paste - 1 tbsp.
  • water, salt, pepper, spices

Ingredients for the dough:

  • eggs - 3 pcs.
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • sour cream - 250g
  • flour - 180g
  • baking powder - 1 tsp.

Method of preparation of the filling:

1. Chop the onion, grate the carrots. Fry in a frying pan. Add a minimum amount of oil.

2. Add the chopped cabbage, salt, pepper, spices, tomato paste, and a little water.

3. Stir, cover and simmer until tender.

4. Add water as needed, not all at once, but in small portions during cooking to make the cabbage juicy but not watery.

5. If the cabbage has released a lot of juice, you don't need to add water. You need to be guided by the cabbage - it can be different.

6. For the dough, add salt, sour cream, flour, and baking powder to the eggs.

7. Whisk everything with a whisk until the dough is smooth.

8. Put half of the dough into the mold, then the filling, and the other half of the dough.

9. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.

10. Bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for about an hour. The cake should be well browned.
