The moisture level of the environment in which berries are kept has the greatest impact on their shelf life. They contain mold spores, and due to their porous structure, they quickly absorb moisture. Thus, they can deteriorate and become unfit for consumption within a few days.

The Mirror recently told us how to keep berries fresh for 10 days. It turns out there are three simple ways.

If you have a good refrigerator that has separate containers for storing fruit, you can safely keep the berries there. You don't need to wash them with water.

Just put the dirty berries in a clean container and open the ventilation holes. This way, the humidity in the container will regulate itself, so the berries will remain fresh for a long time.

Another way to extend the shelf life of berries is to seal the container with a damp paper towel. In this case, the berries should also not be washed immediately before consumption.

Before placing the berries in the container, place a paper kitchen towel moistened with water on the bottom of the container. Put the berries on top of it and close the container.

Berries can also be stored in the packaging in which they are sold in the supermarket. To do this, you should also put a piece of damp kitchen paper towel inside.

However, this method is not suitable for storing raspberries, as they will get wet quickly. However, all other berries can be easily stored using this method.
