Avocados are a popular fruit with many health benefits, but keeping them fresh once cut is difficult. A cut avocado turns black in a matter of hours, after which it becomes unusable even in a salad.

In order not to throw the rest of the avocado away or use the whole one when you do not need it at all, you should know a useful lifehack. Thanks to it, avocado will be stored in your refrigerator as long as you need, writes Mirror.

Taesha Butler, the chief idea founder of the foodie website The Natural Nurturer, shared a genius idea that can save avocados from blackening. She suggests dressing them with olive oil to use later.

This simple life hack will create a barrier between the pulp and air, slowing down blackening. Soaking the cut side of the avocado in olive oil acts as a sealant, reducing the influence of oxygen and therefore its ability to spoil your appetizer. After that, the avocado should be wrapped tightly in food wrap, placed in a container and then in the refrigerator. In this way, the avocado will retain its freshness for a week.
