How to dry tomatoes at home: the most budget-friendly way
Dried tomatoes are a great addition to salads and a variety of savory pastries. You can easily prepare this product at home. All you need is an ordinary oven.
The idea of making homemade dried tomatoes is published on the Instagram page of the famous Ukrainian chef Hector Jimenez-Bravo (hectorjimenezbravo). The slices will be quite spicy.
Ingredients:
- cherry tomatoes
- dry garlic
- thyme or other herbs
- oil
- fresh garlic
- salt
Ingredients for the filling:
- oil
- cilantro or other herbs
- fresh garlic
- salt and dry garlic
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the tomatoes in half and place them on a foil-lined baking sheet piece by piece and close to each other.
2. Peel the garlic, cut into slices and add to the tomatoes.
3. Sprinkle with herbs, dry garlic, and salt and drizzle with oil.
4. Dry at 100 degrees on the top/bottom mode without convection for 9 hours, periodically opening the oven door to allow condensation to escape.
5. Put chopped herbs, garlic and salt in a jar.
6. Add the cooked tomatoes, spices and oil.
7. Refrigerate for several hours.
