How to cook the popular vegetable ratatouille: the perfect dish for the fall season
While there are plenty of fresh vegetables, make time to prepare ratatouille. Although this is a traditional French dish, we have all the ingredients you need to make it. The peculiarity is that the vegetables remain in whole pieces, so they do not lose their benefits and juiciness.
The idea of cooking the popular vegetable ratatouille was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Anna with the nickname ann.food. You might have seen this dish in the Ratatouille cartoon.
Ingredients:
- eggplant - 2-3 pcs.
- zucchini - 2 pcs.
- tomatoes - 3 pcs.
- tomato sauce - 200-250 ml
- onion - 1 pc.
- sweet pepper - 1 pc.
- thyme or garlic as desired
- salt to taste
- oil for frying
Method of preparation:
1. Wash the zucchini and tomatoes and cut them into 2-3 mm thick slices.
2. Wash and chop the eggplant in the same way as the zucchini and tomatoes.
3. Sprinkle with salt and leave for 15 minutes.
4. After that, drain off all the liquid and rinse the eggplant.
5. Wash, peel and dice the onion and bell pepper.
6. In a frying pan, fry the chopped onion and then the bell pepper cubes in vegetable oil.
7. Add the sauce to the onion and pepper.
8. Simmer for 10 minutes until all vegetables are tender.
9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
10. Put the sauce on the bottom of the mold, gradually put all the prepared circles in the sauce, alternating tomato, eggplant and zucchini, until the entire mold is filled.
11. Optionally, you can add a sprig of thyme or garlic.
12. Cover the vegetables with foil and put in the oven for 1-1.5 hours or until tender at 180 degrees.
13. Remove the foil 20 minutes before cooking and let the vegetables bake.
14. Take the ratatouille out of the oven and serve.
