How to bake pork knuckle in the oven: it turns out juicy and flavorful
Baked pork knuckle is one of the most delicious meat dishes on a festive table. Traditionally, it is boiled and then baked in the oven. Thanks to the well-chosen ingredients, the pork knuckle is perfect: juicy and tender inside, with an incredible flavor and golden crust on the outside.
Food blogger Alina FooDee shared a recipe for baked pork knuckle on her YouTube channel (Alina FooDee). According to the recipe, the shank should be boiled with beer and then baked in glaze.
Ingredients:
- pork knuckle - 2 pcs.
- zest of 1 orange
- garlic - 6 cloves
- black peppercorns - 1 tsp.
- cloves - 5 pcs.
- carrot - 1 pc.
- onion - 1 pc.
- bay leaf - 2 pcs.
- beer - 1-1.5 liters
- salt
Glaze:
- orange juice - 1-2 tbsp. l.
- soy sauce - 1 tbsp
- mustard - 1 tbsp
- honey - 1 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the garlic cloves into slices. Make cuts in the knuckle and insert the garlic into them. Put the knuckles in a saucepan.
2. Cut the carrots into several pieces, halve the onion. Add to the knuckles with pepper, bay leaves, cloves and orange zest.
3. Pour beer over the knuckles and add salt. Bring to a boil, cover and cook for 2-3 hours over low heat.
4. For the glaze, mix orange juice, soy sauce, honey and mustard.
5. Put the cooked pork knuckles on parchment and brush with the glaze.
6. Bake for 30-45 minutes at 180 degrees.
