How to bake general lard in the oven: take strong mustard and lots of garlic

General's lard is considered the best. It is thin and has a meat layer. It is often salted. But this product is delicious when baked.

The idea of cooking baked general's lard was published on the Instagram page of the famous Ukrainian chef Vladimir Yaroslavsky (yaroslavskyi vova). You can eat it simply on sandwiches.

Ingredients per kilogram of lard:

  • strong mustard - 60-70 g
  • ground black and allspice peppers
  • garlic - 40-50 g
  • bay leaves - 5-6 pcs.
  • salt
  • foil

Method of preparation:

1. You can soak it in water with salt (25 g of salt per 1 liter of water) - 4-6 hours

2. Remove the lard from the water.

3. Dry it with a towel.

4. Rub the bacon with strong mustard, ground peppers and grated garlic.

5. Add ground paprika and soy sauce.

6. Fold the bacon in half with the skin facing out, and put a bay leaf inside and let it marinate for 4-6 hours.

7. Wrap the lard in foil.

8. Put in the oven preheated to 190 degrees for 40 minutes.

9. After 40 minutes, unwrap the foil and see if the skin is browned.

10. If it is not yet sufficiently baked, leave the lard to brown for another 10-12 minutes at 200 degrees.
