How to bake an authentic French baguette at home – the easiest and most successful way to cook
Who doesn't love flavorful, soft, and airy baguettes? Especially if they are eaten for breakfast with berry jam, butter, salted fish, eggs, and avocado. Making them is not an easy task, but you should definitely try to make them yourself at home at least once.
The FoodOboz editorial team shares with you an easy and simple recipe for real airy, French baguettes that are very successful, and will taste much better than store-bought ones (to watch the video, scroll to the end).
Ingredients:
- flour - 500 g
- ice water - 350 g
- dry yeast - 3 g
- salt - 10 g
Method of preparation:
First of all, sift the flour twice, so it is well saturated with oxygen and becomes airy in the process, then add ice water, mix well, and leave the dough to rest for 45 minutes.
Then add salt and yeast, and knead well with your hands for 5-8 minutes, the dough should be smooth and elastic.
Transfer to a bowl and leave again for 20 minutes. The most important thing is to stretch the dough properly so that it does not tear. Put the dough on a floured table, pull out the edges, and roll it into an envelope, which you divide into 3 equal pieces with a spatula.
Next, knead one part with your fingers and roll it into a thin and long roll. Repeat the same with the other two parts.
Cover the resulting French baguette pieces with a dry towel first, and then with a towel soaked in boiling water. Leave it for half an hour.
After that, align each roll with your fingers and fold it 3 times. Next, cover the baking sheet with baking paper and place the French baguette dough pieces. Cover with a wet hot towel and wait for 1 hour.
Use a knife to make diagonal cuts along the entire length of the future French baguettes and place them in the oven, preheated to 230 C.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, then be sure to transfer them to a wire rack to cool.
