Honey baklava from phyllo dough: when you need to prepare a dessert very quickly

Every housewife keeps phyllo dough in her freezer. It can be used to make many delicious pies, desserts and other dishes. It will also come in handy in those moments when children suddenly ask to cook something delicious and sweet.

Foodblogger Yuliia Koretska in her Instagram told how to make honey baklava using phyllo dough. As a result, you will have a quick but very tasty dish that even children will like.

Ingredients for baklava

  • Filo dough - 400 gr
  • Walnuts - 400 gr
  • Ground cinnamon - ½ tsp.
  • Salt - ¼ tsp.
  • Butter - 180 g

Ingredients for syrup

  • Sugar - 180 g
  • Water - 135 ml
  • Honey - 180 g
  • Lemon juice - 1 tbsp.
  • Cinnamon sticks - 2 pcs
  • Lemon zest - ½ pc
  • Cardamom - ½ tsp.
  • Cloves - 1 bud

How to prepare syrup

1.Combine water and sugar in a saucepan.

2.Add melted honey, zest, lemon juice and spices.

3. Cook for 10 minutes over low heat stirring occasionally.

4. As soon as large bubbles appear - take the syrup off the heat.

How to prepare baklava

1. Beat the nuts into fine crumbs with a blender.

2. Add cinnamon and salt. Mix thoroughly.

3. Melt butter in a saucepan.

4. Line a baking tray with parchment and grease with butter.

5. Fold each sheet of dough into a book or cut in half.

6. Place the first layer of dough, smear with a thin layer of melted butter.

7. Place the next layer of dough on top, brush with butter. Repeat twice more, so that there are 4 layers.

8. On the last layer, evenly spread a part of nuts.

9. Put another 4 layers of buttered dough on top.

10. Put the nuts again.

11. Repeat everything until the ingredients are finished.

12.Cut the baklava into portioned pieces and bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees.

13. Ready baklava pour syrup and leave for 2 hours.
