Homemade apple envelopes: a dough recipe without eggs
Apple envelopes are a simple and quick dessert to prepare. No eggs are required for the dough, which makes the envelopes flaky and tender. The apple filling does not leak out, it is thick and flavorful.
Food blogger Liliia Tsvit shared a recipe for shortbread envelopes with apples on her YouTube channel.
The dough:
- flour – 330 g
- butter – 200 g
- sour cream – 140 g
Filling:
- apples – 5-6 pcs
- sugar – 120 g
- semolina – 20 g
- cinnamon – 1/4 tsp
Method of preparation:
1. For the filling, peel and cut the apples into cubes, then mix with sugar and simmer until the liquid evaporates.
2. Add semolina and cinnamon to the apples. Stir and remove from heat, cool.
3. For the dough, grind the flour with butter until it becomes crumbs.
4. Add sour cream and knead the dough.
5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and cut out squares.
6. Put the filling in the center of each square and pin the sides inward.
7. Bake at 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
