Frozen mackerel can be used not only for baking and frying. It makes a great cold appetizer. Since the fish is frozen, it will be perfectly sliced and the pieces will be perfectly even. This fish tastes like lard.

The idea of preparing a frozen mackerel appetizer was published on the Instagram page of food blogger valerikiry. One fish can be made with lemon and the other with herbs.

Ingredients:

  • mackerel – 2 pieces

For 1 fish:

  • dill – 1 bunch
  • garlic – 3-4 cloves
  • aromatic oil – 2 tsp
  • vinegar – 0.5 tsp
  • salt – 1 tsp
  • sugar, black pepper – 1 tsp

For 2 fish:

  • lemon – 1 pc
  • salt – 1 tsp
  • natural spices for fish
  • cling film

Method of preparation:

1. Fish should be bought frozen.

2. Then defrost it a little (not completely), then it is easier to clean.

3. Cut off the head and fins from the fish.

4. On the side of the spine (not the abdomen), make an even first incision along, and on the other side of the spine, make a second incision.

5. Carefully, slowly separate the spine.

6. If some large bones remain, pull them out.

7. Do not wash the fish – just wipe it with a napkin.

8. Combine salt, pepper, sugar and spread 0.5 tsp on both sides.

9. Rub well into the fish.

10. In a blender, grind dill, garlic, oil, vinegar, and grease the fish from the inside.

11. Put the fish on plastic wrap, roll it up, and wrap it in plastic wrap (it needs to be well tensioned to get a nice cut).

12. Remove the remaining juice with a napkin around the edges of the fish.

13. Do the same for the second one, salt, add spices for the fish on the inside, put two slices of lemon, and wrap.

14. Put the fish in the refrigerator for 6 hours (put it in a container), then in the freezer for at least 10 hours and you can take it out.

15. Cut the frozen fish immediately, and eat it right away.
