If you can already feel the chill outside, it means it's time to go to the store to buy a variety of citrus fruits. They can be eaten fresh and added to baked goods or tea in the form of candied fruits for a spicy taste and aroma. You can make such a delicacy from an orange.

The idea of making candied oranges was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Vitalina v.vanilinka.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oranges
  • 200-300 g of sugar

Optionally, you can add:

  • cinnamon or anise
  • vanilla sugar

Method of preparation:

1. Wash the oranges very well, cut them in half, and squeeze out the juice.

2. Halve the empty orange peels again and take out all the remaining pulp.

3. Cut the crusts into strips or cubes.

4. Put the sliced peels in a saucepan, pour boiling water, and cook for 20-30 minutes.

5. Then drain in a sieve and immerse in cold water for 3 minutes. Pour boiling water again and repeat the boiling and cooling procedure 3 times.

6. Weigh the previously prepared orange juice and take the same amount of sugar.

7. Pour the orange juice over the peels, add sugar, flavorings and cook over medium-high heat until the syrup thickens and the peels become translucent.

8. Put the crusts in a single layer on a baking sheet covered with parchment and put them in the oven to dry at 70-90 degrees for 2-2.5 hours.

10. The crusts will be soft right out of the oven, but leave them on the table for a few hours to cool and reach the desired density.

11. If you dip one edge of the candied fruit into melted chocolate, you'll get a ready-made tea sweet.
