Homemade ketchup

Ketchup is a tasty and spicy condiment that goes perfectly with barbecue, as well as with almost all meat dishes; it is often used to season homemade stuffed cabbage, stuffed peppers, and potatoes. Moreover, it is very easy to prepare at home.

TV presenter and MasterChef judge Hector Jimenez-Bravo shared a recipe for delicious, flavorful homemade ketchup on Instagram, which will be a great addition to many dishes.

How to make homemade ketchup

Ingredients:

  • Tomatoes - 500 gr.
  • Onions - 1 pc.
  • Garlic - 1 head
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Rosemary and thyme - optional

Method of preparation:

  1. Scald the tomatoes with boiling water, and remove the skin.
  2. Put them in a saucepan, and grind with an immersion blender until smooth.
  3. Add sugar, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes and cook for about 30-40 minutes.
  4. Put the garlic in the oven for 8 minutes at 150 C to make it soft.
  5. Peel the onion, finely chop, and fry until golden brown, add sugar, salt, and mix.
  6. Put the onion and garlic in a blender, whisk until smooth, and add to the boiling tomato puree, and mix.
  7. Turn off the heat and let the sauce cool completely.
