Dumplings with potatoes: the recipe for the most successful dough on water
To make dumplings fluffy, soft, and not fall apart during cooking, you need to make a good dough - with regular or mineral water, kefir, or sour milk. At the same time, they can be filled with various savory fillings such as liver, potatoes, mushrooms, or cabbage, as well as sweet fillings such as cherries, blueberries, or cottage cheese.
Food blogger Mariia with the nickname pp_food_blog_mari shared a recipe for dumplings with potatoes on her Instagram page, based on a simple dough with water.
Dough:
- water - 1 glass (300 ml)
- eggs - 1 pc
- flour - 500 g
- salt
Filling:
- potatoes
- onion
- salt, pepper
Method of preparation:
1. To make the dough, gradually combine all the ingredients. The dough should be elastic and not stick to your hands. If necessary, add more flour if there is not enough.
2. To prepare the filling, first boil the potatoes and mash them.
3. Chop the onion and fry until golden brown.
4. Combine the mashed potatoes, onion and optional spices.
5. Roll out the dough and cut out circles. Wrap the filling in each of them and form dumplings.
6. Boil the dumplings in salted boiling water.
