Delicious and healthy herring appetizer: a recipe from the cook
Herring is one of the healthiest types of fish. Experts say that it contains a large amount of omega-3 fatty acids that protect the heart and blood vessels. Herring can be used to make delicious appetizers and is simply delicious salted and eaten with vegetables!
The chef shared on Instagram a recipe for a delicious and easy-to-prepare herring appetizer with onions and red hot peppers.
Ingredients:
- Salted herring - 1 pc.
- Red onion - 1/2 pc.
- Green onions - 2 tbsp. l
- Hot pepper - 1 pc.
- Bay leaf - 1 pc.
- Allspice - 2 peas
- Salt - a pinch
- Coriander seeds - 1/2 tsp.
- Black pepper - 1/3 tsp.
- Olive oil - 100 ml
- Lemon juice - 1 tsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Peel the herring from the bones and skin, cut into medium cubes.
2. Finely chop the onion and pepper.
3. Put all the ingredients in a jar, alternating layers of herring, pepper, onion, spices, oil and finally add lemon juice - this way the lemon juice will not interact with the fish protein, but will only add sourness.
4. Put the appetizer in the refrigerator in an airtight container for at least 4 hours, preferably up to 24 hours!
