Crispy pie with strawberries: how to make shortcrust pastry correctly

If you have a lot of strawberries but are tired of fresh ones, you can make a delicious pie. It is based on crispy shortcrust pastry, which is extremely easy to prepare, and has a sweet filling. This dessert is ideal for family tea parties.

The idea of making a strawberry shortcake was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Natalia (mrs.natalischka).

Ingredients:

  • flour - 200 g
  • eggs - 2 pcs.
  • egg yolks - 5 pcs.
  • milk - 300 ml
  • butter - 150 g
  • strawberries - 400 g
  • sugar - 150 g
  • vanilla sugar - 10 g
  • powdered sugar - 1 tbsp
  • salt - a pinch

Method of preparation:

1. Mix flour, salt, 100 g of soft butter, egg, 1 tbsp of sugar and knead the dough.

2. Put the dough in the refrigerator for half an hour, and meanwhile prepare the cream for the strawberry pie.

3. For the cream, grind the yolks, egg, 5 tbsp of sugar, and vanilla sugar. Add warm milk.

4. Put in a water bath and stir to bring to a thick consistency. Then cool the mixture slightly and add 50 g of butter.

5. Put the dough into a greased mold and form a basket out of it.

6. To prevent the dough basket from deforming during baking, place parchment paper on top of the dough, pour beans or peas on it, and bake in a 200-degree oven for about 15 minutes.

7. Take out the mold, remove the paper and beans (peas) from the basket, put the cream on the dough, brush the edge of the basket with egg yolk, and bake for 40-50 minutes at 140 degrees.

8. Put strawberries on top of the finished cake and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
