Bulgarian apple pie that is tastier than charlotte

Apple pies will always be in season because fruit for this dessert can be bought at any time of the year. And their price is reasonable. This pastry is popular not only in Ukraine but also in Bulgaria. Instead of the classic charlotte, they make a pie the ingredients for which need to be grated in layers. The texture is very juicy.

The idea of making Bulgarian apple pie was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Maria with the nickname cooking_marichka.

Ingredients:

  • 140 g of sugar
  • 140 g of flour
  • 160 g of semolina
  • 100 g of butter
  • 1.5 kg of peeled apples
  • 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 tsp of baking powder

Method of preparation:

1. Mix flour, semolina, sugar, vanilla sugar and baking powder in one bowl and divide into 4 parts (about 4 tbsp each).

2. Thaw the butter a little.

3. Grate the apples on a coarse grater (about 1.3 kg).

4. Cover a 18*18 baking dish or a rectangular dish with a similar diameter with parchment paper and layer the pie.

5. Grate a few grams of butter (10-20) - dry ingedients - grated apples - dry ingedients - grated apples - dry ingedients - grated apples - dry ingedients and rub everything with the rest of the butter on a coarse grater.

6. Bake at 180-200 degrees for 1 hour.
