Seafood will help you stay healthy for a long time

To live longer and be healthier, you should eat fish every week. Those who decide to follow this rule will benefit most from salmon, mackerel, sardines, herring, and anchovies.

According to American nutritionist Maya Feller in an interview with Well and Good, these types of fish make up the main diet in those regions where long-lived people are more common. She also advises to cook fish dishes at least twice a week

The expert explained that salmon, mackerel, sardines, herring, and anchovies are rich in omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids. They also contain selenium, zinc, iodine, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin D, and lean protein.

"The reason why omega-3s are associated with longevity is that they are involved in many body systems, including brain, central nervous system, and heart health," the expert said.

Another argument in favor of these particular fish is the small amount of mercury they contain.

"Its high content is observed in tuna, sea bass, marlin, king mackerel, shark, and swordfish. But I suggest a different list of fish," the doctor emphasized.

Speaking about the healthiest way to cook seafood, Feller noted that the recipe should be as simple as possible and include: salt, water, pepper, olive oil, and the fish itself.

"If you regularly eat this fish in your diet, the risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, and stress will be reduced," the nutritionist said.

Speaking about the effect of such a diet, Feller did not predict it, but emphasized that to feel the impact of such a diet on health, it is necessary to "make it a habit."
